From Banking to Healthcare: Building Safer Networks
Akheel’s career started in banking, where keeping money information safe is key. Working at Bank of America taught him how to protect complex computer systems with private details.
Later, he worked with healthcare companies. In healthcare, it’s important to keep patient info safe but also easy for doctors to see. This is a special challenge.
Akheel says, “Healthcare groups need special ways to be secure. They have a lot of private patient info that must be protected, but doctors and nurses still need to get to it fast. It takes careful planning to make this work.”
Education That Supports Real-World Solutions
Akheel’s Master’s degree in Information Technology gives him both book knowledge and practical skills. This education helps him understand the deeper principles behind network security, not just the day-to-day tasks.
Because Akheel has learned in school and also has real job experience, he can figure out security problems in ways that others might not think of. He gets the small technical stuff and also the big picture of what companies need to stay safe.
Using AI to Spot Network Problems Before They Cause Damage
Akheel’s work is special because he uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make computer networks stronger. He builds systems that learn what a normal network looks like and can quickly find anything strange that might be a hacker trying to get in.
“Old-school security mostly looks for known threats using pre-set rules,” Akheel says. “That approach still matters, but it can’t keep up with how quickly new threats appear. AI systems can learn what’s normal for your network and notice strange things that humans might miss.”
Akheel is making smarter security systems that can handle new threats by themselves. They watch how network traffic normally works and point out anything that looks strange.
Making Networks Better Through Automation
Another area where Akheel has made big improvements is in automating network management. This work reduces human errors while making network changes happen faster and more consistently.
“Even the best network engineers can make mistakes when making complex changes,” Akheel explains. “By creating good automation tools, we can make sure changes follow approved patterns and get properly checked before going live.”
This automation makes security better by reducing mistakes and lets engineers focus on bigger projects instead of spending time on routine tasks.
Security That Helps Rather Than Hinders
Throughout his career, Akheel has encouraged companies to see security differently. He thinks it shouldn’t slow things down but instead help them work better. He believes in making security a part of systems from the start, not just adding it on at the end.
“When security is treated as something to deal with after systems are already designed, it often creates problems and limitations,” says Akheel. “By including security from the start of the design process, we can create systems that are both secure and flexible enough to support new business needs.”
This approach has been especially helpful in his healthcare work, where strict regulations could potentially slow down innovation if not handled properly. Akheel’s integrated approach ensures that new digital projects can move forward while staying secure.
Looking Ahead to Future Security Challenges
As cyber threats keep growing, Akheel keeps learning new ways to keep systems safe. He’s now looking into how new tech like quantum computing could change security and how to protect networks as things keep changing.
“Security never stands still, which means our protection methods can’t stay the same either,” Akheel says. “Today’s secure solution becomes tomorrow’s weakness if we don’t keep updating our methods and tools.”

“We need more engineers who understand both the tech and the business side of cybersecurity,” says Akheel. “By helping young professionals build these skills early, we can grow a stronger security community.”
